KATE BARR
your republican Cantidate for US House District 14
Let's make America fair for once.
Fair maps. Fair pay. Fair prices.
Fair chances.
Put it all together and what do you get?
A fair shot at the American Dream.
Who's the fairest of them all?
It's definitely not your government.
But it should be.

Make America
Fair for Once
Plot twist!
I'm not a Republican. But I am running in the Republican primary.
Why? Because you deserve a choice.
Your leaders *should* represent you. But they've rigged the maps to make sure they'll win the general election every time.
That means the primary is the REAL election.
In a rigged district like ours, the primary is the election that decides who represents CD 14 in Washington, DC.

And only registered Republicans can run in the primary.
So, I changed my voter registration awhile back (country over party always). And on Nov 6, I filed the paperwork to challenge Tim Moore in the Republican US House primary.
And now you have a real choice on your ballot.
I'm running in the primary with an R next to my name because that's how you get an actual choice on March 3rd. And you, like every voter, deserve to have your voice heard and your vote counted. That's what democracy is all about.

Make America Fair for Once
FAIR MAPS
What's fair?
Voters should choose their politicians. Politicians shouldn't choose their voters. Gerrymandering is wrong no matter which party is doing it.
The federal government should ban partisan gerrymandering.
FAIR PAY
What's fair?
-
Billionaires should pay a ton of taxes (because they get a ton of benefit from our country)
-
You shouldn't pay any taxes on the first $100,000 you earn
-
Minimum wage should be enough to live on
FAIR PRICES
What's fair?
You pay into the system with your tax dollars. And you're not getting your money's worth. A government that serves you.
That means:
-
Affordable childcare
-
Affordable healthcare
-
A house you can pay for doing one job
-
Groceries that don't break the bank
FAIR CHANCES
What's fair?
How far you can go should depend on hard you work. Not who your parents are or where you were born.
Your government should make sure you have:
-
High quality public schools
-
Clean water
-
Healthy food
-
Job training programs and money to start a business
-
Rent that fits your budget
You deserve to be able to hold your leaders accountable.
I'll do whatever it takes to give you that chance.
You have questions...
How do I vote for Kate?
If you are registered as a Republican or Unaffiliated, you can vote for me.
When you vote, ask for the Republican primary ballot. And then pick me!
How do I change my voter registration to be able to vote for Kate?
If you are currently a registered Democrat and want to change to Unaffiliated to vote for me, you can do that.
Just go to the DMV website and change your party affiliation.
You have until [DATE] to make the change.
Check out this video to watch me go through the process.
Can Kate win?
Yes.
Primaries have incredibly low voter turnout. And only the diehard party people show up. So, if a bunch of middle of the road voters come out to vote in the Republican primary- Kate wins.
And, at minimum, Kate forces the incumbent to work for his job. So, Kate has already won (and so have you) just by running.
Why isn't Kate running as a Democrat in the general election?
Our voting maps are rigged to make sure the Republican candidate will win the general election. It's called gerrymandering. (Yes, even the word "gerrymandering" is the worst.)
But - the primary isn't rigged. Any registered Republican can file the paperwork and run. So, Kate is running in the election that will *actually* decide who represents District 14 in Congress.
What is the point of this campaign?
First, we hope it sends Kate to Congress. (How great would that be?!)
But also - most of the policies passed by Congress are about a politician avoiding a primary challenger. And those challengers tend to come from the extreme of a party. That means we get more extreme policies.
Kate thinks politicians should be just as a afraid of a primary opponent from the middle. If elected leaders get worried about moderates voting them out of office, they will start passing more moderate policy...policies Americans actually want.
